Youth Leadership Columbus a Success
The second year of Youth Leadership Columbus was a huge success. A select group of juniors from Columbus High, Lakeview, and Scotus participated in the program where they had the opportunity to learn more about our community.
One participant had this to say about their experience, “…Youth Leadership Columbus … has given me a greater understanding of what it means to be a citizen of Columbus, Nebraska. …Because of these experiences, I am empowered to go and make Columbus a better place for generations to come.”
Participants spent 1 day a month for 9 months learning more about different aspects of our community.
Decision makers. Problem solvers. Care takers. Leaders.
That’s whom you will see taking part in the Youth Leadership Columbus program. And that’s whom you will see one day working alongside each other, making Columbus a better community and inspiring future leaders of their own.
If you are going to be a junior in the fall or know a junior who demonstrates these characteristics, encourage him or her to apply by completing the application on the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce website. Applications are due May 1 at 5 p.m.
Those that participated include:
Columbus High – Karissa Gleeson, Mitchell Goc, Emily Hall, Madeline Hudnall, Alexis Jeffryes, and Katelyn Wiegand.
Lakeview – Ashley Behlen, Madeline Fremarek, Makenna Frenzen, and Allie Jaixen.
Scotus – Cole Demuth, Rachael Lam, Brea Lassek, Chloe Odbert, Connor Wiehn, and Liza Zaruba.
Congratulations to Allie Jaixen of Lakeview, Brea Lassek of Scotus, and Alexis Jeffryes of Columbus High as the recipients of this year’s scholarships.
