The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the 2019 selection of Jo Suess and Mike Hansen who will respectively serve as Columbus Days’ Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand XLV.
Chosen on the basis of service and impact in the Columbus area, the local royalty will be busy throughout the community’s four-day celebration Aug. 15-18. Their responsibilities begin Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel & Convention Center where they will crowned amid support of previous years’ winners and those who choose to purchase a ticket and attend. Tickets are available through the Chamber.
“I was quite surprised to be chosen and so very humbled,” said Queen Isabella Jo Suess, Columbus Area United Way Development Director. “Knowing several of the women who have worn the crown before me, it’s a privilege to be nominated and selected.”
Suess’ nomination was based primarily upon her civic engagement and membership in a variety of school, church, and civic organizations, not to mention such community resources as the YMCA,
Columbus Arts Council and the Relay for Life, to name only a few.
King Ferdinand Mike Hansen offers his own resume of community contributions, including leadership in developing the hospital’s facility complex for the community and surrounding area, including an expansion of its child and health care services which bring new physicians to the area for the betterment of area residents and patients.
“I am honored to be selected alongside Jo,” said Columbus Community Hospital (CCH) President and CEO Mike Hansen. “and I look forward to sharing this experience with her.”
